Regulating Medical Laboratory Professionals across Canada

While each province in Canada has slightly different legislation, the regulation of medical laboratory professionals has the same purpose: to protect the public. Regulators fulfill that purpose in a number of ways:

  • Publishing registers of members and pertinent information about their practice
  • Setting mandatory requirements to be able to practice in that province, such as education/training
  • Establishing ways to measure competence and that professionals are practicing ethically and safely
